MAC 2311 — Calculus and Analytic Geometry I

In this course, students will develop problem solving skills, critical thinking, computational proficiency, and contextual fluency through the study of limits, derivatives, and definite and indefinite integrals of functions of one variable, including algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric func- tions, and applications. Topics will include limits, continuity, differentiation and rates of change, optimization, curve sketch- ing, and introduction to integration and area. Students must pass both pre-calculus algebra and trigonometry with a mini- mum grade of C in order to take MAC 2311. This can be ac- complished through any one of the following routes: (1) MAC 1106 and MAC 1114, (2) MAC 1140 and MAC 1114, (3) MAC grade of C, or MAC 1140 and MAC 1114 with a minimum grade of C, or MAC 1147 with a minimum grade of C.
