PHIL 170 — Philosophy of Religion

This course explores philosophical questions and themes related to religion, including arguments for and against the existence of gods, the nature of religious experience, the problem of evil, predestination, the causal relation between the sublime and secular, and the relationship between faith and reason. Students critically engage with philosophical treatments of various deities and supernatural concepts to evaluate the status of religious beliefs in comparison to scientific ones, along metaphysical, moral, and phenomenological dimensions.
