CRC260 — Introduction to Captioning/Alternative Careers

Teaches students the various types, applications, and environments of captioning, as well as the necessary equipment and setup required for each method. Students gain an understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the FCC Telecommunications Act and their effect on captioners and court reporters. Gives students an overview of deaf culture awareness and sensitivity issues, as well as an overview of additional high-tech career options within the reporting industry, including medical/legal transcription, and CART reporting. Enrollment Requirement: Instructor consent. Course Fee: $15.00 Course
