CMST265 — Introduction to Popular Culture
Introduces theories and practices of popular culture, their relationship to both the center and margins of popular culture, and the ways popular culture can shape our perceptions of race, class, gender, sexuality, etc. Addresses critiques of culture and covers different theories and approaches to students understand popular culture, the consumption of popular culture and the effects of popular culture in different contexts (e.g., music, film, advertising, comics, television, etc.) Enrollment Requirement: Eligible for ENGL& 101 or instructor consent.
