A course intended for the technical student which provides an introduction to practical physics as related to mechanical and energy systems. Topics include: units and conversions, measurements, vectors, forces, motion, Newton's Laws, falling bodies, elasticity, momentum, equilibrium, torque, work, power, mechanical energy and simple machines, heat, temperature and E-M waves. PHY 121 T SC Applied Physics 3 3 This is an introductory course covering the general topics of mechanics, static and dynamic forces, work and energy, momentum, heat, thermodynamics and waves. Students will gain knowledge in the basic concepts of physics, and to apply the laws of physics laws and mathematics to solve problems.
