ENG 229 — Black Literature
This course will examine the literary and cultural contributions of Black writers from colonial times to present through written forms of expression, including poetry, fiction, drama, and nonfiction, as well as oral and visual forms, such as film and music. It will focus on specific literary movements, including the literature of slavery and resistance, Harlem Renaissance, and Black Arts Era, as well as the newest modes of cultural expression in and throughout contemporary literature and popular culture.
