CIS 150 — F Introduction to the Internet 3 Units
54 hours lecture per term. This course is an introduction to the organizational, operational, and technical aspects of the internet. Students will learn how to use a personal computer to access internet and the World Wide Web. Topics include an overview of personal computer operations, the history and philosophy of the internet and its services, configuring a personal computer to connect to the internet, selecting an internet service provider, sending and receiving electronic mail (email), locating network resources using search engines, participating in discussion groups using Web 2.0, downloading internet software. Other topics include developing, creating and posting personal and business web pages using the hypertext markup language (HTML), evaluating internet materials for accuracy and reliability and citing web and internet resources.
