AJ 100 — F Introduction to Criminal Justice (formerly Introduction to Law Enforcement) 3 Units
54 hours lecture per term. This course provides students with an introduction and overview of the American criminal justice system. This course examines the history, development and philosophy of criminal justice and summarizes fundamental practices found in law enforcement, the courts and corrections in a democratic society. Topics include the purpose of social control, theories of crime causation, the nature of police work, judicial procedures and correctional strategies in the United States.
