This course introduces the student to health care and basic nursing theory and skills. The course discusses health care systems, legal and ethical responsibilities, basic safety and infection control, medical terminology and communication, personal care activities, nutrition and therapeutic diets, and structure and function of the body. Additionally, the student will learn health promotion and nursing care for geriatric patients and basic emergency first aid.
