This course is focused on the development of teaching and learning skills essential for future OTA educators and practitioners. The course covers a wide range of topics centered on instructional design concepts crucial for effective instruction and professional development in the field of occupational therapy. Topics include development of learning objectives, design of material, development of learning assessment tools, professional presentation skills and self-reflection. Students will explore various teaching philosophies, analyze learner characteristics and adapt teaching strategies to meet learner needs. Students will consider the need to adapt and modify instruction and assessment to meet the needs of diverse learners, apply instructional design models to create effective learning experiences and develop rubrics for fair and consistent evaluation. Students will prepare and deliver effective presentations using appropriate technology, practice timing and delivery techniques for impactful presentations and incorporate interactive techniques to engage learners.
