This course is designed to help students develop the basic skills necessary for success in MAT 1033, Intermediate Algebra. The course involves a variety of teaching and learning methods, including lecture, discussion, cooperative learning, lab-enhanced learning, and others. The major topics in the course are real numbers and their properties, exponents and polynomials, linear equations and linear inequalities, as well as an introduction to applications, factoring, rational expressions, radicals (square roots), and graphing in two variables. This course does not apply toward the associates degree.
