This is the second in a series of two classes to get the Patient Care Assistant PCA certification/Licensure. This course is designed to provide students with job related skills and knowledge of the structure and function, interrelatedness and needs of the human body systems. Patient care activities of daily living, health and hygiene are provided for all age groupings with particular emphasis on the patient in the hospital setting. This course is for students who have completed an articulated nursing assistant and advanced home health aide program and are adding skills to work in a health facility other than a nursing home. Clinical experiences will be in a local hospital and rehabilitation unit. Content includes, but is not limited to, care of patients with acute common health problems, pre- and post-operative patients, and special procedures.
