This course is designed to educate the student on evidence-based models integration of primary care and behavioral healthcare and recovery-oriented intervention for adults who are at risk for mental illness, substance abuse, and suicide. Within the models of integration of primary care and behavioral healthcare is the emphasis on the value, role, and responsibilities of certified peer specialists on interdisciplinary care teams. As well, the course provides students with training on the financing of behavioral health services, professional development/competencies, and navigating challenges present in providing behavioral health services.
