It also explores the potential of new media to affect citizenship and alter what it means to be a member of a democratic society and electorate. After completing the course, students will be able to articulate the effects new media have on American civic discourse, identify how new media affect the production and consumption of political discourses, and write an academic essay analyzing a particular new media practice.
