JOURN 16 — Race, Gender and the Media
A critical examination of the role of media in enabling, facilitating, or challenging the social construction of race and gender in our society. Using a variety of entertainment and news content in print, electronic, and the internet, an appreciation and evaluation of how the media influence everyday notion of race and gender and review the historical roles news and entertainment media have played in creating awareness about the experiences of minoritized communities.
