LPNU 2413 - Mental Health Nursing LPNU 2413 - Mental Health Nursing 3 Credits Hour(s) 2 Lecture Clock Hour(s) 3 Clinical / Studio / Internship Clock Hour(s) Credit Summary: Appropriate pharmacological agents, their actions, uses, and side effects are discussed. Client education on proper nutrition and diet modifications related to the use of these medications are presented as well as proper nutrition and diet therapy necessary for health restoration and to maintain health are included in the discussions. Health promotion activities necessary to promote and maintain optimal mental health are explored. Using the nursing process, students demonstrate appropriate communication techniques and have the opportunity to participate as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team in the care of a selected client in the mental health setting. This course includes a 45-hour clinical component. Note: Students must pass both the theory and clinical components of this course with 80% in each component to successfully complete the course and advance in the Practical Nursing Program.
