The role and function of professional nursing organizations are discussed as well as the importance of continuing education in preparation for expanded job roles. The laws related to the Practice of Practical Nursing (Nurse Practice Act) and the Administrative Rules and Minimum Requirements Relating to Practical Nursing Education and Licensure to Practice in the state of Louisiana are reviewed and discussed.
