ENVR 044 — Firing Operations
The course discusses and illustrates common firing devices and techniques essential for jobs in this field. Students will work with real ignition techniques or demonstrate the use of an actual firing device, skills necessary in these jobs. The course introduces the roles and responsibilities of a Firing Boss, Single Resource (FIRB), and outlines duties of other personnel who may engage firing operations. Through a blended learning approach, students will gain the necessary skills required for the NWCG S-219 Firing Operations course. Students will complete the online training portion of the course prior to taking the instructor led training (ILT) portion. If logistically feasible it is suggested by National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) that a field day be conducted.
