An introductory course in descriptive and inferential statistics for students in liberal arts and health-related fields. Topics include methods of gathering and graphing data, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability concepts, random variables, probability distributions, sampling distributions, interval estimation, hypothesis testing, and correlation. Applications and concepts are emphasized rather than theoretical formulations. Calculators and computers will be used to help make statistical ideas more accessible to students.
