MTH 099 — Combined Basic & Intermediate Algebra (6) (6,0)
This course is intended for students pursuing careers in STEM, business, education, or related fields. Students should consult with an advisor before enrolling to determine if MTH 095 is a more appropriate course. Although emphasis is placed on techniques and manipulations, problem-solving and logical reasoning are main threads throughout the course. Topics include: operations and properties of real numbers; linear equations and inequalities in one and two variables; systems of linear equations in two variables; operations of polynomials including factoring; absolute value equations and inequalities; rational and radical expressions and equations; complex numbers; quadratic and polynomial equations; properties of functions and their graphs, especially quadratics; and applications.
