MTH 096 — Basic Algebra (4) (4,0)

This course is designed to be a first course in algebra. Although emphasis is placed on techniques and manipulations, problem-solving and logical reasoning are main threads throughout the course. Topics include: operations and properties of real numbers; linear equations and inequalities in one and two variables; systems of linear equations in two variables; operations with polynomials including factoring; polynomial equations; and applications. Additionally, the course includes study skills strategies. (1.4) Special Note: Developmental courses may be retaken until passed with a grade of C or better.
