This course explores the use of metalsmithing and lost wax casting methods in jewelry making. Through hands-on practice, students will use foundational techniques in metal forming, soldering, surface decoration, and wax fabrication to create unique sculptural and jewelry forms (1.1) Special Note: This course involves the use of specialized equipment and materials that may be hazardous, including extreme heat, hot metal, sharp edges, open flames, sharp tools and airborne particles from cutting and grinding. Some equipment and shared studio spaces may also involve intermittent loud noises. Students are required to follow all safety protocols, complete safety training, and use appropriate protective equipment at all times. Individuals with sensitivities to heat, dust, or physical studio demands should carefully consider these requirements before enrolling.
