Offers the student the opportunity to develop skills in pipe welding, determination of weld quality, uphill pipe procedures a nd applying and maintaining preheat and inter-pass heat treatments. This manual skill development is necessary to produce quality multi-pass welds on 5" diameter, schedule 40, mild steel pipe in the 2G horizontal and 5G vertical up positions using 1/8" diameter E6010 electrodes for the open root, 3/32" E7018 fillers and cover passes. Weld quality will be determined by using the visual and guided bend test. 4-week course (80 hr.) Prerequisite: WEL 135 (WELD 135)
