EDSE 115 — IDEA and Evidence-Based Practices 3 Credits
Studies individuals with exceptionalities, birth to age 21, and the laws that impact special education and evidenced-based practices. The process of screening, pre-referral and referral are discussed in addition to the IEP and IFSP process. Each category of exceptionality, as defined by IDEA, is reviewed with an emphasis on characteristics and educational approaches and strategies. Inclusionary and family-centered practices are emphasized. (3 lec.)
