Introduces the basic structure of medical language. Students will become familiar with prefixes, suffixes, root words, and combining forms pertaining to the chemical basis of life, as well as the integumentary, musculoske letal, nervous, sensory, endocrine, blood, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. Topics will include w ord structure and function, word building, as well as diagnostic, procedural, laboratory, pathological, su rgical, and pharmacological terms. Additional concepts covered will include pronunciation, spelling, and pluralization of medical terms.
