NUR300 — Foundations of Nursing Practice

This course provides an exploration of the historical development of nursing and the evaluation of nursing theories and models that shape contemporary practice. Students examine the impact of key historical events on nursing education, professional identity, and scope of practice; compare and evaluate major nursing theories and conceptual models; and analyze how nursing theory informs patient-centered care, healthcare policy, and professional decision-making.
