HCE180 — Patient Care Technician
This course focuses on delivering patient care services under the supervision of an instructor. Contents include the knowledge and clinical skills required to provide mid-level nursing care to patients with complex health needs. Attention is placed on recognizing and reporting changes in patient conditions while applying essential clinical techniques. Instruction emphasizes strict infection control practices, including universal precautions and sterile technique. Course content includes the performance of sterile procedures such as wound care, sterile dressing changes, and sterile urinary catheterization. Additional areas of focus include venipuncture, ECG application, and assisting patients with physical and occupational therapy activities. Enrollment in this course requires an active and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) credential.
