DAN145 — Traditional Samoan Siva Dance I
Students will learn various traditional Samoan dances. Students are taught the basic foot work and hand gestures of traditional Siva and may be accompanied by chanting, Ipu (double gourd) or Pahu (drum). Students may be required to make accompanying implements such as hair adornments, leis, and Pau skirts under the direction of the instructor. Students are taught different historical aspects of Samoan mythology, genealogies, plants, and animals.
