HIT 1130 — Survey of Health Information Management 4 Credit Hours
In this introductory course, students will explore the health information management profession and its impact on the delivery of healthcare in a variety of settings. Students will gain insight into the health record and the importance it plays in the delivery of safe, timely, and quality health care. Federal and state agencies will be explored along with facility accreditation standards, documentation compliance, and Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) role in reimbursement systems.
