ELS 0553 — Academic ESL Writing III 4 Credit Hours

Advanced-level academic/professional writing skills for students whose first or primary language is not English. Emphasizes writing well-formed, grammatical essays. Focuses on a review of sentence expansion and modification, the four steps of the writing process, developing research skills, and writing essays in a variety of rhetorical styles. Intended for students who hold a high school certificate or its equivalent and have previously studied English in the United States or their native countries. This course may be taken four times for credit; course does not count toward GPA/graduation and is non-transferable. (4 lecture hours)
