ELS 0503 — English for Academic Success 5 4 Credit Hours

Increases English proficiency through exposure to a range of college-level materials across the curriculum. Improves comprehension of cross-disciplinary lectures and textbooks through the application of listening and reading strategies. Presents corpus-based, high-frequency academic and work-related vocabulary. Focuses on producing multimodal assignments for a variety of purposes and audiences. Includes strategies for completing assignments and communicating with instructors or supervisors. Intended for students whose first or primary language is not English, who have previously studied English, and who hold a high school certificate or its equivalent. May be taken up to three times for credit; course does not count toward graduation. (4 lecture hours)
