SOCY 1110 - Introduction to Sociology SOCY 1110 - Introduction to Sociology 3 Credits This course is an introduction to the scientific study of human behavior, with a focus on how social forces shape people’s lives. Students will learn about basic sociological theories and how sociologists conduct studies. Topics include culture, socialization, race, gender, sexuality, family, crime, and social inequalities. Students will also examine how institutions, social movements, and policies impact various social phenomena and individuals. Students will use a sociological perspective to explore their own citizenship and evaluate their ethics of social responsibility.
