RED 3012 — Principles of Reading

The purpose of this course is to provide an understanding of the foundations of scientific based reading instruction for the components of reading: comprehension, oral language, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, and vocabulary. Application of research-based instructional practices will be demonstrated that include multi-tiered systems of support for struggling readers. This course requires field experience hours in an approved public school.
