CHEM 1120 - Principles of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry CHEM 1120 - Principles of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry This one semester lecture and laboratory course is an introductory course to both organic chemistry and biochemistry with a focus on clinical relevancy. Discussions and laboratory applications of the structure and function of organic compounds, carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, nucleic acids, as well as the mechanism of enzyme-catalyzed reactions, metabolism and bioenergetics will be covered. Prerequisite: CHEM 1110 with a C- or higher OR CHEM 1210 with a C- or higher OR permission of instructor Elective Code(s): LART, SCI Additional Info: 3 hours lecture/3 hours laboratory per week Course Fees: Supplemental Fee Level 2 and Materials Fee Previous: CHE* 112
