Career and Life Development (2-0) 2 Credits This course guides students through employability skills and activities that are closely aligned with competencies outlined by the U.S. Secretary of Labor ’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS). Advanced resume, cover letter, and job seeking activities are combined with networking, online connections for job searching, and interviewing skills. Employment paperwork such as initial employment paperwork, pay, benefits, taxes, and budgeting home expenses is addressed. Participation in local job fairs, informational interviews and job shadowing is required. Soft skills associated with advancement within career/technical/vocational employment are developed.
