12 hour(s) Elective Type: Technical Elective Schedule Note: Fall only Description: Instruction consists of 375 clock hours in professional development and effective communications, human relations, microbiology, infection control procedures, and guidelines as well as first aid procedures for the industry. Sanitary rules and regulations governing the cosmetology profession are taught. Students will also perform services in client consultation using design decisions considerations, selecting the correct hairstyle to fit the client using design principles and elements, scalp and hair analysis, shampooing, conditioning, scalp treatments, and hair cutting by length arrangements and design principles. Long hair design techniques will also be included in the class. NOTE: Students must earn a “C” or better to receive credit toward a technical degree, certificate, or continuance into Any exception would require instructor’s approval. The reading assessment is waived for students who have obtained an Associate or higher degree. An applicant must have attained the age of 17 years and be a graduate of an accredited high school or have passed the GED (General Education Development) test. NOTE: The dual enrolled high school program also requires an applicant to be at least 17 years of age at time of admission. Course
