NUR 1119 — Fundamentals of Nursing

Fundamentals of Nursing is a didactic and clinical course that introduces the student to the basics of nursing theory including the nursing process, health assessment, critical thinking, and selected nursing skills. Physiological, psychological, sociological, developmental, spiritual, ethnic-cultural, and socioeconomic factors are introduced and examined. Students begin to utilize and apply these concepts and theories into the practice of nursing in a variety of structured settings. This course also introduces the functions and roles of the associate degree nurse within evidenced-based nursing practice and identifies opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration with members of the healthcare team to ensure cotinuity of client care.
