CDEV 152 — Curriculum and Strategies for Children with Special Needs
Units: 3 Lecture Hours: 54 Lab Hours: 0 Outside Hours: 108 Grading Method: Letter Credit Status: Credit, degree applicable Conditions of Enrollment: None In this course, students will study curriculum and intervention strategies for working with children with special needs. Focus will be placed on the use of observation and assessment in meeting the individualized needs of children in inclusive and natural environments. The role of the teacher, the special education assistant, and the in-home respite care provider will be emphasized. Topics include working in partnership with families, designing curriculum and accommodations, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and developing cultural competence and responsiveness.
