Introduces the principles of distributed and centralized power generation. Introduces motor/ generator principles for asynchronous, synchronous, DFIG, and PM synchronous generators. Discusses photovoltaic module and utility interactive inverter specifications, array sizing, and orientation. Prepares individuals to perform solar resource assessment and solar site analysis using publicly available resources, instrumentation, and software simulation. Introduces power electronics circuits to perform rectification/inversion functions. Includes a 3-hour per week laboratory session.
