EMS 105 — EMT Part I

Prepares students for entry-level Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) positions, fulfilling both national and state requirements. Provides training in the knowledge and skills necessary to make and implement patient care decisions for a wide range of common acute and non-acute conditions. Covers the Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) of care, and operational knowledge to ensure safe, effective patient care practices. Emphasizes assessment skills, therapeutic communication and cultural sensitivity, promoting professional conduct aligned with the Oregon Health Authority required performance competencies. First course of two-part series. Course sequence requires a mandatory orientation.
