EDU 279 — Literacy Development and Instruction
*Students who have completed Teacher Cadet or Teaching as a Profession Courses in high school with a B or better may substitute that course for EDU 187 Teaching and Learning for All. TOTAL SEMESTER HOURS CREDIT (SHC) IN PROGRAM: 60 – 61* Students must meet the receiving university's foreign language and/or health and physical education requirements, if applicable, prior to or after transfer to the senior institution. *All Universal General Education Transfer Component Courses will transfer for equivalency credit to each of the sixteen constituent institutions of the University of North Carolina under the provisions of the NC Comprehensive Articulation Agreement. ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE DEGREE (A10400) The Associate in Science Degree program prepares students to transfer courses or the degree in its entirety to a four-year senior institution. This program is designed for students who wish to earn a baccalaureate degree in a science-related or math-related discipline. General Education Core (45 SHC) SHC = Semester Hours Credit The general education common course pathway includes study in the areas of English composition; humanities and fine arts; social and behavioral sciences; and natural science and mathematics. UNIVERSAL GENERAL EDUCATION TRANSFER COMPONENT (UGETC) (34 SHC)* ENGLISH COMPOSITION (6 SHC) Two English composition courses are required.
