Survey of visual arts and architecture of the Modern and Postmodern periods and beyond. Topics include how art and architecture were influenced by rapidly changing technologies in Europe and the Americas: how artists use iconography, composition, materials, technique and style to achieve their effects; the impact of art criticism; and artists' reflections on contemporary events and ideologies.
