MUP 105 — Jazz Ensemble

For non-majors and music majors. Introduction and study of common 'big-band' and small-group jazz styles. This course is taken each term in one's first year of a two-year course of study that includes performance, improvisation, musical arranging and writing, study of common styles and practices of historically and culturally significant jazz artists, and study of historical issues related to the development and performance of jazz music. May be repeated for up to 3 credits.
