ARH2016 — Art History Criticism I

This course is a broad and global perspective of art development and usage throughout time, as well as the historical contexts in which these works of art were created. This course identifies and examines world art historical movements from prehistoric times to the 14th century. It briefly analyzes the historical, social, and political contexts that influenced both famous artists and larger art move- ments. A global perspective is used throughout this course and this course encourages students to examine works of art throughout the world and from a wide variety of cultures including arts from Africa, Asia, the early Americas, and Oceania.
