This course provides the required training and experience to serve in supervisory capacity in open water diving activities and to act as an underwater guide or instructional assistant. Successful students will be qualified to apply for divemaster membership with the Professional Association of Dive Instructors (PADI). Nationally recognized certification as a rescue diver, as well as current certification in First Aid/CPR and at least 40 logged dives are requirements for enrollment in this course and will be verified by the instructor at the first class. Students will be required to obtain a diving medical exam prior to starting water activities. Certification as an oxygen provider and 60 logged dives will be required by the end of this course. Students are required to assist in 2 open water labs, 2 advanced open water labs, 2 rescue labs and act as an apprentice to a working divemaster on 6 dive trips, 2 of which are back-to-back.
