Course activities involve the use of the shielded metal arc welding process to weld various joints in the flat and out-of- position weld fit-ups with 6010 and 7018 electrodes. Students must be able to perform physical tasks in order to complete course requirements. MnTC Goals None demonstrate proper set-up, take down, and troubleshooting procedures of shielded metal arc welding equipment. demonstrate proper use of shop equipment. perform weave weld beads with 6010 electrodes. perform stringer beads with 7018 electrodes. perform weave beads with 7018 electrodes. perform square groove, lap, corner, and tee welds in the flat and tee welds in the flat position with 6010 electrode using arc equipment. perform butt, lap, corner, and tee welds in the flat position with 7018 electrode using arc equipment. perform square groove, lap, corner, and tee welds in the flat position with 7018 electrode using arc equipment. preform multi pass v-groove weld with 6010 root and 7018 fill and cap passes. draw three view Sketch of square and v-groove, lap, corner, and tee welds with dimensions and weld symbols. inspect welds for weld defects.
