TRIN 1032 - Ethics, Standards of Practice, and Decision-Making I TRIN 1032 - Ethics, Standards of Practice, and Decision-Making I Hours/Week: Lecture 2 Lab 0 Course Description: This course introduces students to codes of ethics and standards of practice for interpreters. Coursework includes codes of ethics and standards of practice from multiple settings, with a special focus on those promulgated by the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare and by the Minnesota Judicial Branch; ethical decision-making; and the opportunity to practice decision-making and implementing the standards of practice. Students must be enrolled in the Translation and Interpreting Program before taking this course. A completed student information form must be submitted to trin@century.edu. MnTC Goals None explain regulatory frameworks for the provision of interpreters in public service settings. apply theoretical and contextual knowledge to resolve challenging situations. articulate the reasoning behind decisions made in the course of an interpreted interaction. demonstrate appropriate application of the standards of practice in a role-played interpreted interaction.
