Topics include the impact of mental health disorders on the individual, the family, and the community as well as the skills necessary to work effectively in a variety of human service settings. The goal of this course is not to teach diagnosis and treatment; rather, it is to prepare students to be sensitive to the needs of people with mental health challenges.
