It focuses both on the historical events and features that have made Minnesota unique, and how Minnesota fits into the larger trends within American history. Topics include the Indigenous peoples of Minnesota, Euro-American settlement, economic development, political protest and reform movements, racial exclusion, and the changing demographics of the state.
