GNDR 1071 - Introduction to LGBTQ+ Studies GNDR 1071 - Introduction to LGBTQ+ Studies Hours/Week: Lecture 3 Lab 0 Internship hours per week 0 Course Description: This course is an interdisciplinary, intersectional introduction to the study of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and related/allied communities (LGBTQ+). Using a variety of disciplinary lenses (artistic, cultural, historical, literary, psychological, political, sociological, etc.), it explores concepts of queerness, sexual orientation(s), and gender(ed) identities/presentations/expressions from an intersectional perspective. A focus is on the interconnections among people’s lived experiences with systems of privilege and oppression, emphasizing social movements and activism.
